Ms. Cindy – CORE MATH
I have been in education for over 33 years. I earned my Bachelors of Science with a Minor in Mathematics from Stephen F Austin University in Texas in 1981 and continued my education at Texas A&M University and Rice University furthering my study in Gifted & Talented and Advanced Placement, Mathematics and Technology, and Administrative Leadership. Over the years I have served as a University Interscholastic League Coach, Student Council Adviser, Cheer-leading Coach, Volleyball and Track Coach, Math Department Chair, Technology Coordinator, Title I Coordinator, District and Campus Leadership Team Member, Lead Teacher, Mentor and New Teacher Supervisor, Peer Assistance Leadership Coach, and of course my favorite a classroom teacher. I moved to California 5 years ago and made my home here at Bridges where I have been teaching the middle school math classes. I have watched the school grow and transition over the past 5 years. It has been a journey that has taught me so many life lessons. As a teacher my goal was to always make sure that I gave my kids just a little bit more, to leave them a little bit happier than they came to school, a little smarter than when they arrived. I never dreamed that in this journey that I would be the one so full of joy and so rewarded. The students and the community here have embraced me and have taught me so much about life and about learning. I believe all children do learn every day through what we say and do, even when we think they are not looking. I believe it is critical that we set a good example by modeling tolerance and compassion. I am so happy that I have found a home that has similar values of educating the Whole Child.
I have 5 wonderful children of my own. We are very much like the Brady bunch! My oldest actually teaches PE here on campus - shout out to Coach Lindsay. I have a granddaughter here at Bridges in kinder and a grandson who is 2. When I am not at school I love to travel to warm tropical sunny places to lay on a beach with a good book or scuba dive with my husband. Most of all I love to laugh with family and friends. My husband and I bought a Harley last fall. We have been enjoying beautiful rides together over the past few months and we look forward to many more in the years to come.
For those that know me, I will always call my students "MY KIDS" because in our year(s) together they aren't just kids on my roster they become a part of my heart forever!
